For those examiners who conduct or have conducted law enforcement preemployment polygraph examinations, I pose the following questions:
- Did/Does your agency decide not to hire exclusively on a SR result on a screening exam, without admissions?
- Did/Does your agency decide not to hire after a DI call on a follow-up specific-issue test, without admissions?
- Either, neither, or both?

Ben,My agency (VA) will NOT eliminate a potential candidate on a SR result without some type of admission. For most cases like this, we are able to combine the SR polygraph results with background flaws/issues to eliminate the candidate. Alan IP: Logged |

Our department policy states that the polygraph is used as an investigative tool in PE and specific examinations. Also our AZPOST requires you take a polygraph, it does not require that you have an NDI or NSR call by the examiner. We investigate further and interview extensively when we have a SR on polygraph and do a breakout using the lept or leptI. If the breakout indicates SR then we investigate further in the absence of admissions. Not something that occurs often.IP: Logged |
